At the Ohio State Reformatory, you can stroll the halls and visit the cells of some of history’s toughest criminals. Tour the intact set of world’s favorite movie, The Shawshank Redemption. Explore the reformatory’s historical prison timeline alongside the equally iconic, fictional story of Andy Dufresne from the 1994 film, The Shawshank Redemption. Tour also includes information on the warden’s living quarters and other films and music videos filmed onsite. After the tour of the prison, the trip will continue to Malabar Farm, the one-time home of one of Northeast Ohio’s most influential and colorful characters, Louis Bromfield. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Bromfield would go on to win a Pulitzer Prize for his novel Early Autumn and become one of America’s first proponents of sustainable agriculture and conservation. We consider him one of the founding fathers of the modern environmental movement. Take a look around. Explore the beautiful farm and its surroundings.

German Village is designated as a Preserve America Neighborhood, the first in Ohio to achieve this national honor, and is a neighborhood that is a vibrant community known for its charming brick streets and sidewalks, beautifully tended gardens and homes, pedestrian-friendly lifestyle, thriving shops, restaurants and businesses, and year-round volunteer and social events that deepen and expand our connection with this incredible community. Starting at The Book Loft, one of the nation’s largest independent book stores, and located in Columbus, Ohio, just a few blocks South of the state capitol building. The pre-Civil War era buildings that once were general stores, a saloon and a nickelodeon cinema, now are home to 32 rooms of Bargain Books. After perusing the book store, stroll around the neighborhood, shop in the Village’s stores, go to an art gallery, eat at a local restaurant, or just enjoy the many parks. All for a price less than a one way Uber ride.
