The City of Mayfield Heights has contracted with Emergency Communications Network to license its CodeRED high-speed notification solution. The CodeRED system provides us with the ability to quickly deliver messages to targeted areas or the entire city. The system will be used to send critical communications from evacuation notices to missing child alerts. All such communications will be made by way of a voice call. The system will also be utilized to provide general information such as announcements and cancellations by way of email and text messages to contact groups.
No one should assume his or her phone number is included. Mayor DiCicco stresses the importance of adding your contact information to the city's database cautioning, "If your phone number is not in the database, you may not receive emergency notifications." All individuals and businesses are urged to register by clicking on the link below. The notification system provides geographically based delivery, which means street addresses are required to ensure critical notification calls are received by the proper individuals in a given situation. The system works for cell phones, too, but an associated street address is necessary in order to provide relevant messages.
For those who are hearing impaired, the sign up form offers a TDD ONLY option for tone delivery of emergency messages. Messages delivered to phone numbers marked TDD will only be delivered in a TDD/TTY format.
The data collected will be used only for these notification purposes. When you see 866-419-5000 on your caller id, you will know the call is from us. To hear the last message delivered to your phone, simply dial the number back.
